Pictures of the early stages of this year’s Halloween display.
After everything that followed Halloween in 2016, I couldn’t help but leave her up for a bit longer after I took down the rest of the display… with a slight modification.
The 2016 Goblin Circus halloween display began as an homage to monster plants and the apocalyptic sci fi / horror movies of my childhood: the evil willow tree in Lidsville, the original Audrey Jr. in the black and white (and un musical) “Little Shop of Horrors“, triffids hunting blinded humans on the English countryside, and the awful reveal at the end of “Planet of the Apes” (I made it through the first 30 minutes when it was on television and didn’t see the end until decades later.)
By the time Halloween arrived, the whole scene had adopted an oddly political bend, although to be fair, everything that Fall seemed to drip politics.
With an extra nod to “The Planet of the Apes” added in the background just days before Halloween.
What’s worse than a planet full of carnivorous plants? Crash landing on one.
Halloween 2016 in progress.
(very late posting)
In the off season, I’ve started posting some non-Halloween work on a Goblin Circus tumblr account. Check it out!
